 # Volunteer Work:
 

  • Workshop Coordinator on Academics Team at WiCS (Carleton Women in Computer Science): 
    --> Working with the Academics Director to discuss and implement new events/initiatives that would help support students at Carleton Academically.
    --> Organizing technical workshops, projects & campaigns that would introduce students to a new set of technical skills.
    --> Organizing events/workshops that focus on time management, efficient way of taking notes, balancing workload, etc.
    --> Hosting networking events or academic workshop that you find important for students to succeed
    professionally and academically.

     

  • Peer Mentor on Career Team at SSSC (Science Students Success Centre):-
    --> I Mentor and motivate undergraduate Faculty of Science students interested in establishing a career outside
    of health care
    --> I also mentor and motivate students interested in pursuing graduate work or looking for undergraduate
    research opportunities
    --> I work & coordinate with science faculty to organize and promote Science Lab Tour Week
    --> Maintaining the SSSC webpage of volunteer and research opportunities for undergraduate Science students
    --> I plan a series of workshops and events about science-related career development, graduate school,
    undergraduate research, and create related resources
    --> I also contribute by assisting in special event planning, promotion, and execution

     

  • International Orientation Ambassador at ISSO (International Student Services Office):
    - We the ISSO Orientation team, welcome international students to Carleton University through our International Orientation Week.
    - I support virtual activities like welcoming events, social activities, international student panels, ice-breaker activities, and much more...
    - Answering the questions of the incoming international students is also one of my main responsibilities. 

     

  • Summer & Academic Volunteer at ISSO (International Student Services Office): 
    # As an ISSO Volunteer for Summer 2021,
    -->  We welcome new and returning international students.
    -->  I review orientation resources and activities to provide feedback. We develop content for International
    Orientation Week.
    -->  Answering questions from the incoming international students in my academic department via email is also one of my main duty.

    # As an ISSO Volunteer for the Academic Year,
    -->  I support social, cultural, family friendly, and wellness opportunities that connect and engage the international students throughout the academic year.
    -->  My core mission is to plan, execute, promote and evaluate virtual events (due to COVID-19 restrictions)
    throughout the year.
    -->  I support virtual social events like Tea time and Workshops by facilitating activities.
    -->  I review ISSO programs and activities.
    -->  Planning and exchanging ideas about upcoming ISSO events and initiatives with peers is also one of my main duty.

     

  • Representative of Computer Science Department at CSSS (Carleton Science Student Society) : The Science Society of Carleton University aims to promote and foster a collective community for the purposes of personal, social, and intellectual growth within the Faculty of Science at Carleton University and throughout the University campus as a whole. The Departmental Representative is responsible for: attending all council meetings, joining CSSS committees, and representing their department on the CSSS council. 
     

  • Representative of Computer Science Department at CASG (Carleton Academic Student Government) : Carleton Academic Student Government (CASG) represents all undergraduate students on academic issues and creates an avenue for students to give input about their academic curriculum and related academic matters. Student representatives are responsible for representing their peers in their academic faculty.
     

  • Events Organizer at Technolgap Community: --> We connect Technolgap members with companies in the tech industry and provide them with opportunities to develop professionally. Also, we provide them with the opportunity to learn and teach others through workshops.

    --> One of the events that I organized was "Graduate Academia Panel" which was an external event where we had a Q&A session with our 3 panelists (one of them was in grad school, other one had just completed the grad school and the remaining one was a Ph.D. student with 10 years work experience).

    --> The panelists discussed about their experience in graduate school like how the research looks like, how the grad school differs from workforce, how the undergrad school prepares you for the grad school and much more...
